ATP World Tour Finals - Novak Djokovic vs Nikolay Davydenko
Novak Djokovic, the form man on the circuit, takes on Nikolay Davydenko in a tough opening match. The defending champion has been installed as favourite for the tournament, after wins in China, Basel and Paris.
Djokovic is favorite for the match, priced at 4/9, whilst Davydenko is at 21/10. The duo have played each other four times, with two wins apiece.
Djokovic, who is World No. 3, is 6/5 to win in straight sets, and 10/3 to win 2-1. Davydenko is 4/1 to win 2-0 and 5/1 to win 2-1.
The last time these two players met was in the semi final of the Shanghai Masters, where Davydenko triumphed 4-6, 6-4, 7-6. Djokovic has won more matches this year than anyone else in the competition, with a record of 76-18. However, he has not performed as well as he would have liked in the Grand Slams, with his best result being a semi-final in the US Open.
The highlight of Davydenko’s year was his win in the Shanghai Masters, where he beat Djokovic and Nadal in consecutive matches to claim the title.
The winner of this match will play Robin Soderling, who was the shock winner over Rafael Nadal earlier.
Djokovic is priced at 11/4 for the tournament, while Davydenko is at 12/1.
